There was a lovely and a pretty maiden,

Sophisticated, sober and soft spoken.

She had a pair of deep blue eyes,

Narrating volumes unspoken.

The shadow of eyelashes on her rosy cheeks,

Would provide many a though for weeks.

Her long tresses of curly hair,

Were of pure golden colour.

She was as delicate as a butterfly,

To speak to her one would feel high.

Her sweet smile, pearl like teeth,

And curved eyebrows,

Would launch into hearts,

Unlimited arrows.

In short she was a fairy on earth,

Always a source of joy and mirth.

But alas! Nothing is permanent in this mortal world.

She who used to beat thousands of hearts,

Was herself suffering from a torn heart.

Her well-wishers prayed for her a lot,

They really snatched her from the Lord.

God granted her a new lease of life,

As she is somebody’s mother and somebody’s wife.

She is now a completely changed women,

Before age she is a matured person.

Her pair of deep blue eyes,

Are now covered with thick black glasses.

Her soft and silky golden hair,

Is now replaced by white and grey colour.

Her delicate body and pearl like teeth,

Are now a source of pain and anguish,

God may take her away is her only wish.

She is still loved by her true old friends,

They want her to live for many more  years.

To them she is the same paragon of beauty,

As they think her to be a part of that Ultimate Reality.

After all this body made of five elements,

Is meant for decaying.

It is the beauty of the soul only that is everlasting.

Oh God, Oh God, with hands folded, and head bowed down,

I pray thee, give me years but hale and healthy.
