That ‘energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, it can only be transformed from one form to the other’ is a basic universal law to which we all are subject to, there is no choice involved here. However, the implications of this law and the way it can be applied to fight the ills plaguing our societies and causing untold and unnecessary suffering all around the world need to be looked at in a novel way to forge a new way ahead.

In the context of the current pandemic, caused by a virus, an entity which is not even living, till it finds a host in the human body cells, the building blocks of life,  and gives rise to a host of complications that can even lead to the system ‘shutting down’ in extreme cases, in other words, death. So, while researchers in the realm of medical science grapple with the complexities to tackle the virus, artificially created and spread, or the creation of some sinister mind, they need to collaborate with researchers from other sectors as well, say for instance, with cyber-security experts dealing with computer viruses, and find a creative ‘anti-virus’ technology to curb and eliminate the spread of not only the coronavirus, but every other type as well.

We need to start thinking, a luxury in the present times, where everything is mechanized and regimented to an extent that we all are being conditioned to become akin to the virus we are fighting, semi-living entities that are not modeled to use the faculties been granted to them, and that distinguish them from the inanimate objects, and think and infer for themselves, about what is wrong and how to correct the ills that are causing them suffering and misery, not warranted nor necessary.

So, adhering to the basic universal law of the conversation of energy, we need to realize that we are merely instruments that facilitate the high-level transformation of energy from one form to the other, and the energy manifests itself in the form of everything we as humans have achieved till now, things for which we are proud, and also things for which we are regretting about. By expanding our perspective and using some of our limitless power to think and choose wisely, we can collectively make this world of our a better place, where people need not die because of hunger, wars, or viruses.

Relying merely on the scientific method to achieve this, is being over-optimistic and putting all your eggs in one basket, for the scientific method is just one facet that can help us to deal with the problems we are grappling with. We need to tap into our own consciousness and explore the limitless universe that engulfs us, both internally and externally. So, using space telescopes to observe the far recesses of outer space is fine, we also need to use a microscope to gaze into our selves, and take a look at the vast expanses of the same limitless universe that lies in each one of us. All the answers lie there, as nothing can be created, all originality and novelties are existing already, although unmanifested, we can all contribute to manifest them in different ways to give rise to and shape our world to become better, and set the path for our further evolution.

All science has its roots in philosophy, and ends up as art, so says Will Durant in the ‘Story of Philosophy’, and philosophy is nothing but systematic and refined thinking, something that we need to practice, to come out of the mess that we have created, by not exercising this vital function that makes us the humans that we are supposed to be. To explore our answers, our problems, fight the demons both within and external, we need to be a little ‘creative’ in our approach. Why should only the doctors be burdened to treat our ills, something that are caused by not adhering to basic rules of life that we have forgotten, and then we expect the scientific method or the medical science to deliver us from our ills, we need a reality check, which is happening currently.

Just by living and not by just merely existing, we can make a good start. Let us all take a pause, introspect, enjoy, relax, breath, smile, spread joy and happiness, and just be ourselves, rather than just act like mechanized creatures who have no clue why they are doing what they are doing, and be a little bit more responsible for our actions. Just by reconnecting ourselves back with mother nature, by marveling at our capacities to create beauty and art and tools and technology that make our lives better and worth living for, we can do ourselves a great service.

Each man is not an island, each man is a universe in itself. So we need to find ways to connect each universe with the other, a create a multiverse that itself is one singular entity, containing in itself countless outcomes, but leading to something which has a net positive outcome, that tilts back to positivity and light, instead of letting the proportion of darkness and despair to cause misery and suffering which we should not tolerate or create in the first place.

Let us make things simple, try to make things uncomplicated, leave the jargon to the dustbin, and speak a language plain and beautiful, music to ears. and sweet to listen to, and make our little contributions, and when amalgamated with similar contributions of our fellow men, to construct a beautiful world, where children need not die for the want of medicine and food, where there is respect of life in all forms, where everyone lives as per the basic laws of nature. Every religion teaches us the same, every religious school of thought leads us to this outcome. So, instead of being rigid and inflexible about what path is the right path, we need to focus more on the journey on whatever path we may have chosen and create moments to cherish and enjoy every step in the process, the destination is fixed, it is not important, but the journey is, both individual and collective, think about that.
